The Education Project

changing lives through education

Subi Foundation intends to build a primary school (K-7) that provides affordable education to the children in the village of Ivuukula (as well as surrounding villages). Receiving a 7th grade education not only helps to break the cycle of poverty, but it also reduces rates of child marriages and teen pregnancies.

Once a primary school is successfully operating in Ivuukula, Subi Foundation can expand the school to provide secondary education. This will further empower the village children by enabling them to receive quality jobs, becoming fully self-sufficient.

The primary school will cost approximately $55,000 to build. To pay the teachers for 1 school year will cost $12,000. So to open the primary school, we need to raise $67,000. Once the school is open and operating, we will continue seeking sponsors, while working to make the school self-sustaining.

The Ivuukula School will have:

Classrooms for Kindergarten through Grade 7

30 chairs and desks in each room

A brand-new chalkboard

Math books

Reading books

Paper and pencils (with a pencil sharpener)

Breakfast & lunch provided for every student

A well-trained local Ugandan teacher in every room

In a safe, sturdy, carefully-constructed building

School Pictured: Entebbe Parent's Secondary School

For the past few years, Subi Foundation has provided school supplies to the Union Vision School in Namutumba. This school has a chalkboard, but rarely can teachers afford to buy chalk to write on it. The school has benches for students to sit on, but nothing for them to write on or write with. Subi Foundation has been providing supplies and food for Union Vision School, improving the quality of education for these children.

Subi Foundation has also been paying school fees for Eve and Joanne--two very dedicated, driven young women who only wanted to finish secondary school. When their parents were no longer able to keep Eve and Joanne in school, Subi Foundation stepped in to ensure that these girls receive the education necessary to end the cycle of poverty for women in their family.

  • It costs approximately $3,500 to fully stock Union Vision School for 1 school year. This includes: composition notebooks & pencils for each student, toilet paper, chalk & erasers, rulers, and porridge for their daily breakfast (plus other possible consumable school supplies).

  • It costs approximately $450 to pay tuition and lunch fees for 1 girl to attend secondary school for 1 full year.

Announcing a Partnership!

Subi Foundation is partnering with The Every Dream Foundation to raise funds for our Education Project. With sponsorship from The Every Dream Foundation, Subi Foundation will have more ability to put school supplies in the hands of every child at Union Vision School. With connections created through The Every Dream Foundation, Subi Foundation will be able to make more progress on raising the funds needed to build The Ivuukula School. We are so excited to see the positive outcomes of this partnership and how we, together, will be able to build more HOPE for the children in Uganda!
